Question Cards

Skip the predictable questions. Discover the person behind the profile — through cards designed to make a first conversation worth having.

Most first conversations stall in the same place. Both people are polite, both ask reasonable things, and after twenty minutes there is nothing left to say — because the whole exchange has been an exchange of credentials.

Question Cards is our answer to that. It is not a quiz and there is no score. It is a small shared deck inside the conversation: one of you starts it, a card appears for both, and you both answer.

What it is

A curated deck of questions that lives inside the conversation between two people who have matched. One of you starts it, a card appears for both, and you both answer the same thing. Cards are written and reviewed in advance — in Norwegian and English — so nobody gets a question that lands badly.

Why it exists

A first message is only as good as what it has to work with. Left to itself, a new conversation defaults to “what do you do”, which produces a prepared answer and tells you almost nothing. A card removes the burden of coming up with something — neither person has to be the one who makes it interesting.

It also makes the conversation symmetrical. Both people answer the same question, so nobody is being interviewed. That small structural detail is what stops it feeling like an audition.

How it works

  • One of you invites the other to play. Nothing starts until they accept.
  • A card appears in the conversation as a real message — you reply to it the way you reply to anything else.
  • You pick the tone together: Easy, Flirty, Deeper or Wildcard.
  • When you want a new one, you draw the next card. When you are done, you end it.

The deck is curated and fixed, not generated on the fly. Every card is written and reviewed in advance, in both Norwegian and English, so nobody gets a question that lands badly.

How it improves the connection

  • Nobody has to be the interesting one. The card carries the opening, so neither person is performing.
  • It is symmetrical. You both answer, so it never turns into an interview.
  • You choose the depth together. Moving from Easy to Deeper is itself a small mutual decision, and it usually happens before either of you would have raised the subject alone.

How it is different from a normal dating app

Most apps end at the match and leave the conversation entirely to you — which is the moment the majority of matches quietly die. Question Cards treats the conversation as the product, not the afterthought. There is no score, no streak and no reward for playing more, because the aim is a better exchange, not another reason to open the app.

What is not in it

No questions about health, religion, politics or money. Flirty means playful, never explicit. Nothing pushes anyone toward sensitive information, and there is no scoring, streak or reward for playing more.

The point is a better conversation, not another reason to open the app. That is the same principle behind everything else here — see why modern dating apps feel broken.

Where it fits

Question Cards lives inside the chat between two people who have already matched. It is not a public feed, it is not shared anywhere, and the answers stay in your conversation.

Frequently asked

Is Question Cards a quiz?

No. There is no score, no right answer and no winner. It is a shared deck of questions inside your conversation — both people answer the same card, which is what keeps it from feeling like an interview.

Who can see the answers?

Only the two people in the conversation. Answers are ordinary messages in your chat; they are not posted anywhere, shared with other members, or shown on a profile.

Can I choose what kind of questions come up?

Yes. There are four tones — Easy, Flirty, Deeper and Wildcard — and you choose together. Flirty is playful rather than explicit, and no category asks about health, religion, politics or money.

Do I have to play?

No. It is an invitation the other person can decline, and either of you can end it at any point. Nothing about your profile or visibility depends on whether you play.
